Teaching kids to shoot, killing power and factory loads

Shooting/Hunting tips of the month

November 2004

TIP 1.

Its a good idea to use targets which a youngster (learning to shoot for the first time) can see when the bullet strikes.

Tin cans, silhouette targets can be placed on top of target holders, stumps, logs, etc. When the bullet hits one of these targets, they topple over.

Objects like clay targets are more fun because they shatter spectacularly, making each shot register in his/her mind, building confidence and having fun at the same time.

Keep their enthusiasm high and he/she will stay interested.

TIP 2.

There are many factors involved with the 'killing power' of a cartridge but when you get down to the nitty gritty, it is the bullet or projectile and where it impacts the animal that matters most.

If you do not use the correct bullet, you run a very real chance of only wounding your quarry.

Think bullet first, and power last.

TIP 3.

Factory loads are a compromise. They are required to work from any given rifle on any type of game and in varying conditions.

The reloader, however, can pinpoint his/here own specific needs and pick one perfect projectile.

The result can be a startling improvement in rifle/handgun performance and an increase in its effectiveness. Visit this website to learn more about reloading today:
