Hunting Shooting Gloves: Which One Is Best?

The best hunting gloves to wear depends on weather, seasons and style of hunting (deer hunting with rifle or bow, duck-waterfowl-turkey shooting with shotgun, etc).

Warm, insulated waterproof leather hunting gloves are not necessary in hot weather, while thin uninsulated gloves provide little protection and warmth in cold conditions.

Lightweight Gloves and Liners

Lightweight hunting gloves made from cotton, fleece or leather provide the most basic protection. They keep your hands warm enough on chilly morning days but still allow dexterity, feel and sensitivity (i.e. your shooting finger). Always carry a pair of lightweight gloves while hunting.

For turkey shooting, uninsulated cotton gloves are the best on warm days, and they also serve as a liner for heavy, insulated gloves on cold days.

For really cold conditions you should consider a pair of glove liners made from wool or thinsulate for maximum warmth.

On extremely cold days wear a wool or thinsulate glove liner with your mitt or glomitt for added warmth.

Heavyweight hunting gloves are perfect when still or stand hunting where activity levels are minimal. There is no one pair of hunting glove that will cover all hunting scenarios, so always carry a few different pairs.
