Duck Hunting Tips

if you shoot ducks from a boat, avoid wearing waders. If you must, then remove as much air from the pants as possible and wear a tight gun belt around the waist.

Should you happen to fall in, the remaining air in the waders will help you float, rather than sink to the bottom of the swamp - a very dangerous situation indeed.

Gun Safety

Gun safety should start at a very early age and what better way to learn with than a .22 rimfire or air gun.

The low noise level and non-existant recoil from both calibres is comfortable for younger shooters to use, learn about weapons handling and develop marksmanship skills.

If a younger person shows interest in the shooting sports, then get them on the right track the first time round.

Hunting Deer In Thick Woods

If you hunt deer or pigs in thick bush or woods, a .30/30 lever action is a good choice, as is the Ruger Ultra Light or Remington Model 7.

The lever action is the oldest type of American repeater for big game hunting. The lever gun is short and handy, as well as light to carry. Although as not as quick as a pump or auto to operate, its much quicker than a bolt action.

Compared to the bolt action, the lever action is the next most reliable in functioning when the action is filled with water, dirt, dust, etc.

Why are certain cartridges named or called "Magnum"?

The term magnum was first applied to an oversize bottle of champagne. Holland and Holland later borrowed this term to describe a large extra-capacity belted cartridge. So, now you know!
