Essential Hunting Tips

This issue is all about time proven hunting tips

TIP 1.

I'm often asked where is the best place to shoot an animal you want to eat. I have shot and skinned hundreds of animals over the years that were destined for the dinner table. By far the best place is behind the shoulder, into the lungs.

Why? Well, a lung shot causes massive internal bleeding and because the heart is not damaged its continues to pump for a minute or two after the animal has fallen. This draws blood from the tissues and deposits it all in the chest cavity. A lack of blood in the tissues makes the flesh much tender and taste better.

Think about this the next time you are out hunting.

TIP 2.

To move as quietly as possible when stalking a game animal, you must have patience. Don't rush it! That's all there is to it.

I prefer to walk very slowly and keep an eye on the animal to see what it's doing. Often I have been stalking a reasonable trophy sized animal only to come across a much better one that I did not see bedded under some bush - and much closer!

Patience and observation is what hunting is all about.

TIP 3.

Trail-watching: where you sit still in well-tracked game areas and wait patiently for animals to showup. This is a very productive form of hunting, if you're patient enough. That's the key to this type of hunting.

Too often hunters prefer to stroll around the hills looking for game movement. Often you'll see the tail-end of game running off into the scrub. Try the trail-watching method next hunting season instead. Patience is king!
